A whole chicken seasoning at the dinner table is a dream of many of us. Want to know what’s the secret? A perfect homemade poultry seasoning relies on accurate species measure and stuffing. Again, how well you’re marinating them. I struggled a lot to make it perfect. That’s why I’ll share some best homemade poultry seasoning recipes and tactics.

Poultry seasoning is a combination of food that is made with a blend of different herbs. These herbs help to enhance the flavors of cooking meat. Various sorts of a mixture of herbs used in poultry seasoning include-

  • Marjoram
  • Thyme
  • Sage

  • Celery seed
  • Basil
  • Ground pepper
  • Nutmeg
  • Garlic powder
  • Onion powder, etc.

Usually, a poultry seasoning is used to rub this combined spice mixture on chicken, turkey, pork, veal, lamb, and much white meat. It is also used as a seasoning for food dishes such as poultry stuffings, dressings, casseroles, etc.

I have attached the three best homemade poultry seasoning recipes. I’m sharing here what I learned from my experiences. But do you know all the ingredients that I’m giving there are easily found in the kitchen? So, you didn’t need to pay a single penny for this. Let us get started.

Method-01) Poultry Seasoning Recipe: Using Special Spice Paste

Time-30-40 minutes

Poultry seasoning ingredients-(For Spice Paste)-

  • ¼ cup of dried rosemary
  • ¼ cup of dried sage
  • 2 tablespoons of black pepper
  • ¼ cup of dried oregano
  • Two tablespoons of celery salt
  • 2 tablespoons of garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon of ground cloves
  • 1 tablespoon of ground nutmeg
  • ¼ cup of dried thyme
  • 2 tablespoons of kosher salt

(For seasoning)-

  • A bowl
  • a whole chicken
  • Griller
  • 3-5 Tablespoons of sunflower oil.

Steps-01) Combined all the spices in a mixing bowl

First, combine all the spices in a mixing bowl. Add a half cup of water or oil, stir it well. I prefer to use fat as it was so effective for a better mixture.

But you can add some water as an alternative. Make sure the paste is too thick and grave. You can store the dried spices for 5-6 months.

Steps-02) Dab It into Chicken Pieces

Dab the spices into the chicken body and leave it for 20-30 minutes. But it will be good if you leave it overnight. The chicken will be more soft and juicy then.

Steps-03) Grill The chicken Slowly

Now, it’s time to grill the chicken. Pour a tiny amount of sunflower oil into the Grill and brush it well. Next, put the chicken pieces there one by one. Stir it after every 1-2 minutes.

You can brush the oil and the spice paste combined on each side of the chicken if needed. Serve it on a plate while it’s getting reddish burnt. Enjoy it with a bun or fried rice and other dishes.

Method-02) Poultry Seasoning Spices: Using Smoked Paprika

Time- 30-40 minutes

Seasoning Spices Ingredients –

  • 1 or ½ tablespoon of sea salt,
  • ¼ tablespoon of black pepper,
  • ⅓ tablespoon of drab oregano,
  • ½ tablespoon of garlic powder,
  • ½ tablespoon of seasoned,
  • ⅓ tablespoon of smoked paprika.

Other parts-

  • Mixing bowl,
  • chicken pieces for grilled/fried/ roasted.
  • 2-3 tablespoons of oil.
  • BBQ sauce.(½ tablespoon)
  • Soy sauce.(⅓ tablespoon)
  • Cornflower for fries.(1-3 cups)

Steps-01) Stir all the spices into the mixing bowl with water

First, pour all the spices into the mixing bowl one by one. Then stir the mixture well with a spoon and leave the spice paste for 2-3 minutes. You can store these dry seasoning spices in a clean container for further use.

Again, this spice is also great for fried chicken. Further, it works well for baked chicken and grilled chicken breasts. These spices paste, a simple and easy seasoning blend to be made ahead of time.

Steps-02) Dab The spices into the chicken body & Marinate it

Before dabbing the spices into the Poultry’s body, I would like to marinate it with two sorts of sauces—Mix ½ of BBQ sauces & ⅓ Soy-sauces into the mixing bowl. Pour the seasonings into the Poultry and stuff it thoroughly with the spices.

Next, let it rest for 30-40 minutes. Then go for the final preparation.

Steps-03) Grilled / Roasted/ Fried The Chicken on your own wished

As I mentioned before, you can use signature spices for both grilled/roasted/fried Poultry. Coat the turkey or Poultry into 1-3 cups of cornflower. Then deep-fried it in oil. For grilled or roasted Poultry, stir the chicken into the grilles. And keep continuing to brush spices and oil into the Poultry if needed.

Finally, enjoy it with your friends and family.

Method-03) Whole Poultry recipe: Using Montreal Steak seasoning

Time-60-70 minutes

Ingredients –

  • (Dry Rub)
  • Kosher salt
  • Sugar
  • Celery seed
  • Rubbed Sage
  • Thyme
  • Cacao pepper blend or, Smoked Paprika
  • Montreal’s steak seasoning
  • Montreal chicken seasoning
  • Garlic salt
  • Onion powder
  • Cracked black pepper

Steps-01) Add all ingredients Into A bowl & blend well

Add all the spices into a bowl. Then blend it well, crushing seeds, pepper with other ingredients.

Steps-02) Wash Poultry in cold water & Leave it to rest for 60 mins

Wash poultry in cold water, pat dry. Sprinkle the seasoning mix throughout the Poultry, inside and out. Rest the Poultry with a dry rub in the refrigerator for approx 30/40/60 minutes.

Steps-03) Pre-heat the oven & Cook it properly

Pre-heat the oven, place the Poultry in a roasting pan with a rack. Keep it the very brown side down & roast in the scorching oven for 20-40 minutes.

Remove the Poultry from the oven, reduce temperature to 325 degrees F. Turn-rotate the poultry breast side up and continue roasting approx 60-90 minutes.

Steps-04) Test to verify the product

Now test the Poultry to verify it is evenly cooked or not. Remove from the oven and allow product to rest at least 20-30 minutes before carving.

a) What Can Be Used In Best Poultry Seasoning?

You can use a 1tablespoon of poultry seasoning for 1table spoon of dried thyme or marjoram. Thyme and marjoram are the best combinations of the best poultry seasoning. Meanwhile, you can swap the flavor by using any dried or fresh herbs, plus mix and match spices. Again, some cooking expertise is suggested to add an essential blend. These are parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme. With the help of basic Italian spices, your seasoning becomes more tasty and grave.

b) Can Herbs De Provence Replace Poultry Seasoning?

Herbs de Provence is another and most reliable poultry seasoning. It was founded in France, looks quite similar to the oregano. This spice features many spices. Some of them are also including in poultry seasoning named thyme, rosemary, parsley.

Herbs de Provence is very efficient to season the Poultry quickly. But It’s not always good while tasting because of the presence of lavender. Lavender on the poultry seasoning doesn’t mismatch with each other. So, herbs de Provence often provide the real taste of poultry seasoning.

c) Can I Use Chicken Bouillon Instead of Poultry Seasoning?

Yes, you can use chicken bouillon instead of poultry seasoning. Before that, you’ve to understand the difference between Poultry and bouillon. These aren’t entirely similar. Chicken bouillon is an essence or flavor of its. It’s usually salt.

Unlike other ingredients, you can use ground-up chicken bouillon to enhance the taste of the poultry seasoning blend. It will give your seasoning a different taste and flavor. Chicken bouillon is also used on the Stu or soup.

d) Is Bell Seasoning Quite Similar To Poultry Seasoning?

Bell’s seasoning is a mixture of poultry seasoning. It is a unique blend of herbs and spices, founded by William G. Bell in Boston in 1867. The spice consists of ground rosemary, oregano, sage, ginger, marjoram, thyme, and pepper. Bell seasoning is having something essential for thankful cooking. So, considered to other spices, bell seasoning is made of equal herbs that also bring out the poultry seasoning.
